Coconut Oil Uses You Don’t Know But Need To

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

I’d say it’s common knowledge that coconut oil works miracles and comes with a seemingly endless list of uses. It can be used to cook, to moisturize, to remove makeup, to condition hair… but you already knew that. Coconut oil however can also be used for various other things you haven’t thought of:

  1. It treats cold sores.

  2. It improves circulation when used as a lotion (super helpful with winter approaching).

  3. It has anti-aging properties when used as a moisturizer.

  4. It can be used as a natural teeth whitener when combined with baking soda.

  1. It soothes mosquito bites when applied topically.

  2. It makes for an energy-boosting snack when combined with equal parts chia seeds.

  3. It soothes allergy symptoms when applied to the inside of the nose.

  4. It stimulates hair growth when massaged into scalp.

  5. It helps prevent sunburn and increases skin’s sun tolerance.

  1. It speeds healing of infections or injury when applied to the affected skin area.
  2. It fades sun and acne spots.

  3. It prevents split ends.

If you didn’t think you needed a personal supply of coconut oil, now you definitely do!
