Campus Profile: Michael Thomas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

This week’s Campus Profile is an SC stepping, people loving barista: Michael Thomas. Michael’s unmatched friendliness makes any person feel welcome and cherished, and his dedication to stepping gets people psyched to see Sexual Chocolate’s Big Show this Friday, February 10th (as if we need convincing?).

The Basics

Name: Michael Edward Thomas

Year: 2019

Major/School: Communications/ A&S

Minor: Management and Leadership/ CSOM

Involvement on Campus: Sexual Chocolate, works at OnTheFly @Mac

Hometown: Sao Paulo, Brazil

BC Life

Favorite professor and why: Brett Ingram: He engages you in the text – everything we learn is applied to current events. He also introduces me to concepts that are always around us but that I’ve never been consciously aware of.

Go-to lunch spot on campus: Depends on the day, I like variety between Mac and Lower.

Favorite BC food: “zero”

Bapst or O’Neill: I’ve recently come to appreciate switching up my work environment, so either one works for me.

More about Mike

Fun Facts: I used to knit scarves, I used to organize parties/events in Brazil, I’ve never been to Chipotle, and I currently want a piercing

Biggest Pet Peeve: Fake friends who don’t tell you when you have food in between your teeth

Favorite Movie: “I don’t really watch movies”

Favorite Book: Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

Top Song on your Playlist: “I Feel it Coming” by The Weeknd or “Moving on and Getting Over” by John Mayer

Most Embarrassing moment at BC: I was passed out on my bed on a Friday night, but my friend Andrew wanted to take me to a party. So he had the brilliant idea to pick me up, and when he did, he tripped and dropped me face-first on the carpet. I didn’t know what looked worse: the rug-burn on my nose or putting a bandaid over it. The rug-burn still hasn’t healed, but I’m applying a special cream on my nose every night because I don’t want a reminder of this in the middle of my face.

A Date you never want to go on: Mac

If you could live anywhere outside the US, where would you live?: Barcelona, Spain

Quote You Live by: “Everybody’s crazy – some people are just better at hiding it than others.”

Sexual Chocolate

Favorite part of SC: SC provides me an escape from my other responsibilities and worries. When I practice, I’m just a body. It’s also an amazing way to connect as a team of people who love performing.

Most challenging part of being on SC: The most challenging but rewarding part of SC is to be willing to completely remove yourself from your comfort zone. We put on performances and act- it’s a unique way of interacting with yourself and others.

What can we look forward to at the Big Show?: No comment, just be there *wink wink*

Catch Michael at Sexual Chocolate’s Big Show this Friday, February 10th at 7PM, featuring Synergy and PATU! Tickets go on sale Monday, February 6th at 8AM. Tickets usually sell out in just a few hours! So if you’re not lucky enough to get a ticket, take a trip to OnTheFly @Mac to get a coffee from a quality barista (he works on Tuesdays from 1:30-6:30)!
