Best Places to Eat Around Campus

Lydia Ahern

Bored of Dining Hall options already? I’ve compiled a list of destination spots around campus you can go to the break the routine:

1.  Johnny’s Luncheonette: If you want an awesome breakfast, brunch, or lunch: go to Johnny’s. Get to this Newton Center destination early as there is usually a line! I HIGHLY recommend… basically everything. It’s hard to go wrong with the menu, especially with all the different types of omelets and frittatas.  Keep in mind that the oatmeal is killer (they add apples and spices), and the French toast is a solid choice as well. (P.S.: If the line is too long, you can head over to Deluxe Station Diner near the Newton Centre T-Stop and have breakfast, lunch and dinner any time of the day).

2.  Chipotle: Looking for fast yet delicious Mexican food? Look no further than Chipotle in the heart of Cleveland Circle. An indulging meal in a burrito, tacos, burrito bowl or quesedillas is only a shuttle ride away!

3.  Fin’s: Fin’s is a classic spot for dinner with friends because of their amazing sushi and abundance of options. Personally, I am a huge fan of their speciality rolls. You can either take the Comm Ave bus to the Bank of America spot for a night out with friends, or have your own sushi night by having Fin’s delivered to you.

4.  Panera: Panera is a great place to go to study and eat. In the back of Panera, located in Newton Center, there is a whole room meant for people who want to sit down with their laptops or catch up on some reading! Try ordering from the “hidden” online menu, which has some healthier choices!

5.  El Pelon: “Fresh, Authentic, Mexican, All Day, Every Day” is their slogan. Enough said. The Brighton restaurant is close to campus and you can order for takeout online.

6.  Eagles Deli: This famous deli has been featured on the Travel Channel, the Rachel Ray Show, and was awarded “Best of Boston” for their burgers. If you like burgers, go here (it’s in Cleveland Circle). They also deliver!

7.  Flatbread: The pizza here is actually really good, plus it’s RIGHT on campus next to the B-line t stop. I recommend the Sicilian slices.

8.  Sweet Tart: If you don’t know about Sweet Tart already, then listen up! There is this great frozen yogurt place for kids of all ages that has a ton of candy toppings right in Newton Center and it’s awesome. My personal favorite there is topping my froyo with chocolate-covered marshmallows. You may never be able to look at the dining hall froyo machines the same way ever again after one trip to Sweet Tart.

9.  Applebee’s: Applebee’s is great destination for you and a bunch of friends, especially since the portion sizes are huge! If you are on a budget, no worries! They have half-prize appetizers that will satisfy your stomach and wallet.  The location of Applebee’s is prime: right across the street from the Cleveland Circle bus stop.

10.  Domino’s: Did you know dominos delivers with eagle bucks? It does! Late night cravings solved!
