True life, for my 21st birthday, I got a Kitchen-Aid mixer.  It’s stainless steel, everything I wanted, and yes, I took a picture with it adorning the proudest smile I have.

“Mom, starting in May, I’ll have my own kitchen for the rest of my life… and giving me a kitchen without a Kitchen-Aid is just cruel,” I had explained to her.

She is my kitchen guru who has taught me most of what I know, so she understood my logic, and, come my birthday, my wish/request/plea came true.

Because let’s be real, if there is one place where I truly shine… it’s in the kitchen.  Laugh all you want, it is what it is.  I’m known for baking birthday cakes for all the neighborhood kids, and I even started up my own dessert catering company one summer.  And my meatballs?  They’re the best in town.  (Oh, and this year, I am proud to say I won a baking competition amongst some friends on campus – shout out to my baking partner, Marg!)

So today, I’m going to share a recipe with you for a decadent dessert that is perfectly paired with a glass of red wine (for those 21+) or a giant glass of milk.  It’s a simple recipe I found on Pinterest.  We’re baking a chocolate, caramel filled, sea-salted lava cake.  And it’s downright delicious.  Check out the recipe here

Pair it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and you just might taste a bite of heaven.
