Thanksgiving break finally gives us some much needed rest and relaxation after an endless midterm season. What ideally should be one week of exams ends up as months of papers, exams, meetings, and all-nighters. By the time you finally get to Thanksgiving, a few mornings of sleeping in and some home cooked meals are all you can think about. Unfortunately, those four days go by all too fast and we find ourselves once again in exam season. The adjustment from home to finals can be tough, but here are a few ways to make the transition easier.

Stay organized

Now is not the time to get lazy with your planner. Make to do lists and pay attention to deadlines. You don’t want your grades to suffer because you forgot to turn an assignment in on time.

Keep your room clean

When you’re stressed out and are only at school for three weeks, it’s tempting to blow off cleaning and never truly unpack. If a messy room doesn’t bother you or your roommate, go for it! For many people it just adds to the stress. Take the time to keep your room relatively neat and you will feel so much more relaxed while you’re studying.

Workout with friends

Time management is extremely important during this time of year, and multitasking will probably be necessary. Combine working out and spending time with friends by taking a group fitness class together. You’ll get an awesome workout and make memories with your friends.

Make time for yourself

Exam week can make you feel as if you are not doing enough if you are not exhausted and pulling multiple all-nighters. However, maintaining your health is more important that trying to keep up appearances. Watch a movie, meditate, or flip through a magazine to take a break from your hectic schedule.

Good luck powering through your exams! You’ll be on winter break before you know it!

Emily is originally from Massachusetts, just 30 minutes outside of Boston. Her small city lies right on the coast where the beach is no more than 2 minutes away. She spends her free time getting addicted to shows on Netflix (it happens to the best of us), napping, and taking Buzzfeed quizzes.
