Ask HC BC: Roommate Rut

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Dear HC BC,

I spend all of my time with my roommate.  She doesn’t like meeting new people, but the year is almost over, and I feel like I haven’t made any other friends.  How can I branch out without leaving her behind?

Dear Roommate Rut,

It can be hard to make new friend when you’re already in a comfortable friendship, but that’s what college is about.  Be honest with your roommate—  it’s not that you don’t like spending time with her, it’s that you want to have other friends too.  That is completely understandable.  If she doesn’t want to join you, then I vote that you still try to branch out.  You can still spend time with her, just not all of it.  Plus, if she is a good friend, she will want you to be happy.

Good luck!

HC BC
