I followed DJ Khaled’s Snapchat religiously from the day he created his account. He would update his story, and I would watch and laugh(mostly at how silly he was). But recently, I would just click his story just to get rid of him from my “Recent Updates” on Snapchat where new stories appear by the minute.

I remember watching DJ Khaled getting lost on a jet ski, and I was in O’Neill studying for finals. I was so happy to watch this man get lost on a jet ski that I thought, “Wow, it could only get better from here.” My biggest concern was why he didn’t call someone for help, and why he reached out to thousands of people who could not help him find his way back home? Nearly three months later, and I am in awe that I was every infatuated with this man who would scream things without any real purpose. “Bless Up.” “Keys to Success.” “Pathway to Success.” “Lion Order” Who actually knows what he means by these terms? He radiated positivity with every story he shared on Snapchat, but I was just watching his stories to be able to say that I was an avid viewer.

The part that really confused me was why DJ Khaled was always with Ben, a 16-year-old boy, but apparently he’s a sneakerhead who sells fresh kicks as I found out here. I never understood who this little hype man was, but now I know.

Also, why was he always trying to teach us how to moisturize ourselves, brush our teeth, and clean ourselves as if we didn’t know already? Is he trying to tell us we all smell or something?

Most importantly, who is THEY? “They don’t want you to eat.” “They don’t want you to be happy.” “They don’t want you to win.” The ones who bring negativity are the ones who we don’t want to associate with, but why mention that everyday. Our haters should not be our motivators; we should want to be successful for ourselves. Right?

Chef Dee knows how to cook, as we can tell from her multiple plate spread each meal, but who is eating all of that food? DJ Khaled and his wife eat plates of food per meal? I don’t know but I must say I get a little bit jealous each time I watch the food that I can’t eat while I am hungry. Then, I usually become hangry.

His snapchats are viral and he makes money by sharing these bits and pieces of his store. I think it’s impressive how he became the guy who announced his name to becoming a Snapchat mogul. His “We The Best” store has become a huge success and clearly he has made Snapchat his new entrepreneurial stomping ground. I think his snapchats were funny, but now I think it’s getting old. I don’t judge those who still follow DJ Khaled, but is he really worth your time?
