Coming from New York, I’m used to Christmas being a pretty big deal. I’ve been to the Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting, the village in Bryant Park, and I’ve gone to see Santa at Macy’s and all the window displays at Saks Fifth Avenue. So when I got to college, I wanted to know where I could go in Boston to get in the Christmas spirit like I do at home. Well, if you have the same problem, I’ve got the solution. Here are five of the best places in or around Boston to see holiday displays!

Faneuil Hall Market Place

You can visit Santa at his cabin and check out the beautiful Christmas tree that went up on November 23rd. While the Christmas tree lighting already happened, it doesn’t mean you can’t go and enjoy the beautifully decorated tree on its own.

Back Bay Holly Days

Participating Back Bay businesses will decorate their windows, lobbies, and more to spread cheer throughout the holiday season in a window decorating competition The public will vote on their favorite windows (featured on their Facebook page) from December 1 – December 17.

Christmas Festival of Lights
in Edaville

Passengers relax comfortably in warm and dry coaches while riding through a spectacular holiday setting featuring an explosion of lights. They even have a Polar Express Experience! If you have a car or a friend who has a car and loves Christmas like you do, this definitely seems like a worthwhile trip. I know I will definitely be checking it out this year.

Macy’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting

If you have some free time, go and check out Macy’s beautiful Christmas Tree in Downtown Crossing! And while you’re there you can check out their holiday window displays!

This event is a great way to kick off the holidays and includes cookies, hot chocolate, pictures with Santa, and various musical acts– all taking place in O’Neill Plaza. The event already took place on Wednesday, December 4th, but you can see the lights every single night until Christmas!

So if you need a break from studying for finals, take a trip to visit one of these sites and get in the Christmas Spirit!
