Will Lancôme’s new ‘it girl’ be ‘enough for you’ to purchase its products?

Here is the inside scoop. Lancôme Paris has now made famous American singer, Olivia Rodrigo, its new Global Ambassador. Be prepared to see your favorite girl in purple, add a touch of pink to her aesthetic with her new juicy tube lip glosses in shades ranging from a creamy light pink to a deeper berry red.

Okay, now let’s be real and talk about the significance of this collaboration. Lancôme is a makeup brand that has been in the beauty game for a hot minute. Originally started in France back in the 1930s, its cosmetics have been traditionally more popular with the middle-aged adult and up audience. However, with campaigns such as these, Lancôme has been able to expand its consumer market. Just think about it. Even if you did not end up buying the product, how many times have you been tempted to ball out on a purchase that had the face, name, or promotion of a well-known celebrity? Don’t worry. This is a safe space, so you can answer truthfully. If you are like the rest of us, your answer is at least once or twice (probably more than that if we’re being honest with ourselves). Furthermore, we mustttttt talk about how strategic of a move this contract is for Miss Rodrigo’s brand. Queen not only got her check, but gets free promotion, as people will more than likely see her face plastered on the giant ‘GUTS’ tour bus as it travels on the road, making pitstops at iconic places such as Baylor University (shameless plug). Not to mention that even though most of us live laugh love streaming services, she will also most likely make some guest appearances in television advertisements.

With two successful albums under her belt, and a world tour on the way, that “all-american [chick]”, because we keep it PG here, has made sure that all of her bases are covered when it comes to spreading the word about her music, concerts, and overall self-being, and to that, I applaud her.

Olivia, if you are reading this…. well done. And also… get that bag girl I see you!!!

Kondwani Masamba started as a writer on the Her Campus at Baylor editorial committee but now serves as the Marketing Director for the chapter. She works closely with the rest of the executive board to find creative ways to promote both Her Campus and women on campus.
This former writer has won two Scholastic Art and Writing silver-key awards for her original poetry at the mere ages of 15 and 16. Writing has been apart of her life even before then, as she was awarded a gold and bronze medal at ages 12 and 11 at ACSI speech meets for her two original works. She is now pursuing a degree in International Studies on a Pre-Law track with hopes of finding a career in international law and negotiation.
Despite the trials of being a college student, Kondwani decided to step outside of her comfort zone, join the marketing side of the Her Campus team, and in turn, impact the community around her through the continued celebration of creative women at Baylor!
