Based in Los Angeles, Cueva is a Hispanic-owned brand mixing streetwear and ballerina-esque elements to bring LA a unique masculine women’s line. Mixing lace, see-through fabrics, and baggy silhouettes, Cueva is the next hottest thing to be aware of.
Stickyharmony: If you are looking for a REAL sustainable upcycling handbag brand, then look no further. Stickyharmony creates some of the most complex, exciting bags that I have seen in a long time. Every bag is one of one and made completely by hand. Naomi Lewis founded her brand in Munich, Germany, with the goal of “transforming storied textiles, off-cut leathers, and vintage finds into unique handcrafted handbags”. She gives forgotten materials a new life every day.
co____za: An upcycling brand that turns old jerseys and t-shirts into ruched new creations. Co.za is based in Guadalajara, Mexico, and recently did a collaboration with Nike to promote their Total 90 line. They are an experimental fashion brand with an emphasis on sustainability.
Persona: My absolute favorite boutique in Los Angeles is one that not only highlights local designers but also consistently gives back to the community. From group self-care Sunday events and women’s run club to block parties and mid-city Mercados, Persona does so much for the greater West Adams area. If you can’t shop in stores, just take a look at their Instagram and be inspired by the creations of Hispanic designers who are using fashion to celebrate and educate others on their heritage.
