Bear Beauty: Long-Lasting and Sweat Proof Game Day Makeup

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Baylor chapter.

As a Baylor Bear, you need to have three traits: spirit, spunk, and heat endurance. Especially for game days. With the likelihood of it getting up to 100 degrees or more, Waco weather is no joke. To keep the sweat dripping on the field instead of on your face, use these game day makeup tips to make sure your look can “bear” the Waco heat!

Now to start, ALWAYS use sunscreen. Most importantly, it prevents cancer, but it also helps with smaller issues like sunburns or future wrinkles. Facial sunscreens like EltaMD are especially made for this, but any approved sunscreen is great too. While we all want to stay beautiful, we also want to stay safe!

Secondly, to keep any makeup long-lasting and sweatproof, the two most valuable products you can use are primer and setting spray. Primer is meant to keep any makeup put on top of it intact, as well as refined and smooth. The setting spray is to make sure every product is held together and protected even more so from elements like weather and sweat. A primer and setting spray I recommend is the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer and Urban Decay’s All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray. Both help my own, as well as my fellow beauty-loving friends, makeup stay on all day.

For skin makeup on game days, I prefer using minimum concealer to cover areas on my face rather than full foundation. But on foundation preferred days, using a powder foundation works better instead of a liquid foundation. Foundations like MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation prevents the greasiness from the sunscreen from shining through on your face and is more lasting against sweat than a liquid foundation.

The second trickiest product to keep on during games is pesky glitter. My go-to glitter, whether it be for eyes or face, is Urban Decay’s Heavy Metal Glitter Liner. While not my ideal eyeliner, it is my all-time favorite glitter product to use as an extra sparkle to my makeup. The product itself dries onto the skin and stays on until purposefully removed. It comes in an array of colors, including Baylor’s classic green and gold.

To mention green and gold, a great way to express your Baylor pride is through your eye makeup. Of course, for any eye product, try to use an eyeshadow primer. Primers like Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion are a consistent hit. Another way to show your Baylor support is through colorful eyeliners. Eyeliners like Nyx’s Vivid Brights Liner can be used for a simple line, for cute drawings of the BU logo or whatever you choose.

But my all-time favorite product to use on game days are rhinestones! Rhinestones like these around the eyes in green and gold are a perfect way to show your Baylor pride with an extra bit of sparkle. You can use as little or as much as you want. If you’re going for a more obvious school spirit vibe, specially-made BU rhinestone face stickers like these from Barefoot Campus Outfitters or these are a great way to show your Baylor pride. I have personally used these rhinestones stickers, and they’ve lasted the longest out of all my makeup without any extra adhesive. But if you want to keep extra safe, or want to use rhinestones without adhesive, make sure to use a skin-safe lash glue.

Whether you go barefaced or beat, what truly matters is that you find your own way to express your Baylor pride. Whether it be rhinestones, colorful liners, or nothing at all, if you can “Sic Em” you’re good to go for game day!
