Why is Trump So Petty?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bates chapter.

President Trump is the commander in chief of pettiness. In his elections results news conference he was stating who he liked and didn’t like. Who he supported and didn’t support. And most importantly the republicans that didn’t support him and lost.

He went on to list everyone that didn’t take on his “embrace.”

“Mike Kaufman… too bad Mike”

“Mia Love gave me no love and she lost! Too bad, sorry about that Mia”

These were just some of my favorite of his remarks, he does not hold back and its so shocking how Trump feels like he is allowed to be so mean to everyone.

“Why do i like Oprah? What kind of question is that?”

Caravan Statement from Jim Acosta from CNN.

“Thank you very much for saying that I appreciate that” – so sarcastic

“You are a rude, terrible person”

When the next reporter, stands up for Acosta.

“Well, I’m not a big fan of yours either!”

“What are you trying to be him?” (points at Acosta from CNN)

“Sit down, I didn’t call you!”

“Such a hostile media, it’s so sad.”

“I come in here as a nice person to answer questions”

“These people are sick” – people who want to impeach him, Pence, and Kavanaugh

“I retired him, I did the country a great favor” – speaking on Paul Ryan

These are just some of the highlights of Trump’s 2-hour long rant and screaming match with reporters. That same night, the White House barred Acosta until further notice. Why is the president allowed to treat reporters this way and attack new media? What are the future implications of his actions?
