Drop Everything & Listen to a Song by Maggie Rogers (You Won’t Regret It)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bates chapter.

After Saturday Night Live’s musical guest performance this past week, many people are wondering, “Who is this angelic/folksy Maggie Rogers singer?” AND FOR GOOD REASON. Everyone and their dogs are talking about this 23-year-old singer, including John Mayer, Brandi Carlile, and even one of my own brothers who noted, “this chick is gonna be big” (I had to burst his bubble and tell him she already is). Although I’ve had the pleasure of listening to Maggie’s songs like “Alaska” and “Dog Years” for a little while now (yup, I’m pulling the hipster card), I was elated to hear many other people finally jumping on the Maggie Rogers train. I could write on and on about how great of a musician she is, but I’ll stop right here. Here are some ultimate Maggie Rogers highlights. From the moment she was “discovered” by Pharrell Williams in her NYU masterclass to her sensational performance on SNL, Maggie Rogers has always been destined to end up on your Spotify playlist. Enjoy!

Pharrell Williams Listens to Maggie Rogers’ “Alaska” and LOVES IT

The music video for “Alaska” (her most popular song back in the day..aka in 2016). Fun fact: This whimsical music video was filmed on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, where she grew up ( she deserves an extra gold star in my book because I also call rural Maryland my home too)!

“Dog Years”…One of my personal favorite songs for traveling, or just about any other time in life.

“Give A Little”.. Another great one.

“Light On” music video. Everyone’s most recent obsession.

And finally, this is one of her PHENOMENAL performances on SNL.
