Valentine’s Day Ideas for the Long Distance Relationship

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ball State chapter.

Valentine’s Day is meant to be filled with love, candy, flowers, and of course, your significant other! Couples in a LDR know how hard holidays can be, especially the one all about love. Not to mention many couples are apart this year due to restrictions from COVID-19. Below are some fun ideas to make Cupid’s holiday more enjoyable for the long distance relationship.

Have a Date on Facetime!

Facetime and other forms of video chatting are essential for staying connected to the one you love. Make your V-Day chat a little more special by getting dressed up, making a cute background, and eating your fave foods together! You can even make some cute desserts and open gifts from each other on the call too.

Watch a Rom-Com Together Through Teleparty

Stream your favorite romantic movies together by using Teleparty. Simply go to netflixparty.com to install the Teleparty system. Live chat with your S/O while watching what you love from Netflix, Hulu, Disney, and HBO websites.

Mail Gifts or Have Flowers Delivered on Feb. 14th!

Make your special person feel extra loved with a gift box mailed to them by Valentine’s Day! Fill it with fun cards, chocolates, candy, and other personal items they’ll love. Bonus points if you have flowers delivered!!

Get Crafty with Fun DIYs

Be creative by painting, drawing, making digital art, etc! Having fun and being crafty together will make you forget the distance between you . Get inspired by searching on Pinterest beforehand so you both have the needed supplies. Go to a craft store and stock up on fun supplies to make those cute V-Day crafts.

Love makes the world go around, but it isn’t always easy! With the right amount of dedication, communication, and assurance, however, it’s all worthwhile. Every relationship is beautifully unique, so tailor your own variations of the ideas above. Have a happy and safe February 14th!
