By now, there isn’t a soul on campus left to hear about the winning half court shot worth a full semester’s tuition or the freshman behind the ball, Lemuel Turner. What student’s don’t know, however, is just how big this event was, and continues to be, for the new student.
Almost two weeks after making the shot in question, Turner remained the focus of national media. He landed in Los Angeles September 1st after being contacted by The Ellen Degeneres Show. Degeneres wasn’t the only one interested in chatting with Turner; he also received requests from Fox News and ABC News in New York, but turned them down to be on Ellen, saying “it would be more of a fun time on Ellen than a typical news talk show.”
The media attention thus far is unheard of for Turner and it’s something he has never had to get used to, saying “It’s been overwhelming but fun.”
