Indiana Secretary of State visits Ball State

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ball State chapter.

Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson came to Ball State to discuss financial literacy with students, faculty and staff. She discussed topics like student loans and identity theft.

“I just urge you to think about a couple of things when you get asked how many credit cards you’d like to apply for,” Lawson said. “Limit the number of those cards, obviously. And remember that our goal, for all of us, is to be making $100,000 after we graduate, but the reality is that many of us will not.”

Lawson also reminded students that voting is just around the corner, and downloading the Indiana Voters phone app is recommended for any and all eligible voters.

“Voting is so important,” Lawson said. “People are making decisions that can effect the community and Ball State – it’s impacting you, and I ask that students please accept responsibility and get their votes on the ballots.”
