3 Apps Every Girl Needs for an Insta-Worthy Feed this Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ball State chapter.

Your Instagram aesthetic is the first thing followers notice when they check out your profile. Whether it be the colors, grid layout, or overall tone, your Instagram feed contributes to an aesthetic that will help you gain followers and increase activity from current followers. An aesthetic is not only pleasing to the eye, it also helps users show their personality and can greatly improve your content when it appears on the feed. Creating a cozy fall feed may sound like a time commitment but keep reading to find out how to warm up that feed with 3 simple photo editing apps.

Lightroom Mobile

The Lightroom Mobile app is one app that I will absolutely swear by as a social media user. While it contains many basic features like photo cropping, resizing, light adjustments, and basic filters, my favorite feature about this app is that you can create your own or download presets!

A preset is essentially a customized filter. More specifically it is a configuration of light and color settings that a user defines to achieve a specific style of their photo. The major benefit of a preset is that you can place the custom preset on your photos before you post them to Instagram to have a consistent feed. You can also make separate adjustments to the lighting and color conditions of your photo each time after applying your preset, which is unique compared to a generic filter.  This app is free so there’s no reason for you not to download it right now.

Picsart

I think the first time I ever downloaded Picsart was when I was 12 years old with an iPod 4 using the app to decorate my creatively cringey Tumblr-style photos! But there’s a reason that it’s been popular for so long; they have hundreds of pre-made filters that go perfectly with their unique cropping features.

Although a preset is more specific and customizable, a filter is still one-hundred percent necessary to spruce up your feed this season. Picsart has filter themes ranging from bright retro 70’s, to cozy bronze vibes, which are perfect for fall. Having filters in categories within the app makes it super user-friendly and convenient to apply stylized touches to your photos.

Another benefit of Picsart is that it offers a wide range of cropping options. There’s the standard cropping tool, a free crop tool, and a shape crop tool. The free crop tool allows users to draw the boundaries that they wish to crop out, which allows for maximum control and customization for your photos. You can’t go wrong with a cute shape every now and then too, which is why I love the shape crop tool that allows users to crop their photos with predetermined shapes for the cutest vibe.  Picsart is also free, however there is a subscription price to unlock the premium features. Luckily, you can try out the premium features for free by using their free 7-day trial!

Planoly

Last but not least, the perfect app for my planner lovers. Yes, that’s right, I plan my feed ahead of time just like every other aspect of my life (shoutout to my highly organized control-freaks, I’m right there with ya). This app allows you to plan your feed aesthetic ahead of time by allowing you to preview your photos in the Instagram feed orientation before having to post your photos. My favorite part is being able to rearrange what photo goes where, that way I can decide which photos to post first.

You’ll truly feel like an Instagram influencer after downloading this super easy-to-use editing app because you will be obsessed with having posts planned for the pure joy of having a beautiful feed. The best part is, this app is also free! Download Planoly ASAP and start planning!
