1. Plan, plan, plan

The key to a smooth transition back to school, after a long break, is to plan ahead. Make sure you know what classes you are taking, where the classes are located, and who your professors are. It’s great planning early, because you won’t be as stressed out and you’ll know exactly what you’re doing!

2. Get back into routine

Remember when you had a routine all set up the first semester? And now you totally forgot your routine? You start forgetting to bring your shower caddy to the showers, or forget to bring detergent to the laundry machine with you… and the list goes on. Well, after a long break, it’s good to slowly adjust back to the dorm life and remember your old routines to make life easier again.

3. Find a friend who will help you get back into the routine

If you have a roommate, or a friend that lives close by, it’s great to get back into the zone with them! Hopefully your friend or roommate will remind you about that one class you have in an hour that you totally forgot about, or that you have a meeting with your classmates or professors. It’s always nice to have someone who can remind you that you have commitments when you’re still frazzled about being back at school.

4. Buy a planner

It’s a new year, so it’s time to buy a new planner. Planners are amazing for keeping track all the things you need to do throughout the week. Keep a planner inside your backpack and bring it to class tot keep note of all the homework assignments, meetings, or other commitments you have.

5. …Or create a Google calendar

If you don’t like writing, and would prefer to do things digitally, the Google calendar will work wonders for you. It’s like a planner, except everything is digital and easy to access as well!
