Back in my hometown of Wheaton, IL, there is an açaí bowl cafe called Nautical Bowls, and it’s one of my family’s favorite places to go. However, being a student at Augustana means that Nautical Bowls is over two hours away, and I can’t go get a bowl whenever I want to. After searching for weeks for a good açaí place in the quad cities, I recently stumbled across Everbowl in Bettendorf. Not only do they do delicious açaí bowls, but they also have different lemonades and smoothies to try if that’s more your style. For this article, however, I’m going to focus on the different bowls they have because that is what I’ve been craving, but stay on the lookout for different articles in the future covering those two topics. But for now, this is for my fellow açaí bowl lovers: Here are my top three favorite bowls from Everbowl.
- Full Moon.
One of the things I like about Everbowl is that there are different options for the base of your bowl. Of course there is the traditional Açaí, but there are options such as vanilla, cocoa wow (chocolate custard), pitaya, everoats, and more. The Full Moon’s base is a combination of the vanilla and cocoa wow, which are two of my favorite bases because they pack a punch of flavor and are ridiculously creamy. Top them with granola, strawberries, bananas, peanut butter, and cacao nibs (dark chocolate shavings) and you get one of my favorite bowls. The fruit is fresh and juicy, the peanut butter and granola add a rich nuttiness that compliments the sweetness, and the combination of chocolate and vanilla is a match made of heaven. This is the first bowl I ever had from Everbowl, and it’s definitely not the last time I’m buying it because it’s just that good.
- Nutty Butty
I first tried Everbowl at SloughFest at Augustana College my freshman year. I got to create my own bowl, and for my base, I chose a vanilla custard because I never had that in an açaí bowl before.
Now, that sweet and creamy vanilla is all I crave.
When I first saw Nutty Butty and saw that it had an all vanilla base, the decision of what I was going to order became real easy. Of course, the vanilla custard was fantastic, but combining it with peanut butter, almond butter, and Everbowl’s version of overnight oats (called Everoats) was a stroke of food genius. Top that with bananas, strawberries, and cinnamon, and you get a bunch of delicious flavor combinations that will never bore you. I don’t even know what else to say besides drop everything and run over to Everbowl to try your new favorite addiction.
- Mango Majic
Although I write about the vanilla custard a lot, two açaí bowl bases that I also love are blue majic and mango. Blue majic is a blue-green algae extract (although its a sky blue in this bowl) that tastes sweet and creamy like a coconut, and mango is, well, blended mangos with a touch of honey. Top those bases with granola, pineapple, kiwi, strawberries, and coconut flakes, and boom! You have the iconic Mango Majic bowl. The creaminess of the blue majic and the tropical sweetness of the mango blends beautifully together, the granola is light and has the perfect vanilla taste, and who doesn’t love a pile of fresh fruit? When I first saw this bowl, I knew that I was bound to buy it eventually. And then buy it again. And again. You really can’t get enough of it.
For those of you who miss their açaí bowl cafes from home, you’ll discover a new addiction as soon as you walk through Everbowl’s doors. Whether you’re a first-time customer or a loyal returner (like me), you’ll discover new things to love Everbowl with each visit.
