My New Snack Addiction

Hello hello hello!  I hope you all are doing lovely today!

I mentioned in my article covering Lifted Energy’s Child Advocacy Center Drink (which you should totally try by the way!) that I tried Hawaiian Bros for the first time last week.  I got the mixed plate meal and tried the Hulu Hulu Chicken (marinated with Hawaiian Bro’s signature teriyaki sauce), Luau Pork (slow-roasted with Hawaiian sea salt), and their side of rice.  Although the pork was a little salty and the rice needed more seasoning, the chicken was delicious. However, it was the sweet treat that really stole the show for me.

Ever heard of the viral Pineapple Dole Whip that all of the Disney Influencers can’t stop raving about? (And for good reason too!)  Well, it turns out you don’t have to book an airplane ticket to Florida or California to try it out.  Hawaiian Bros sells cups of it for less than $5.

And it is absolutely wonderful.

They have two flavors: Strawberry and Pineapple.  I’ve tried the Pineapple Dole Whip before, so I decided to try the Strawberry for a change.  Do you know those hard strawberry-flavored candies with a strawberry wrapping around them?  The Strawberry Dole Whip tasted exactly like that. It was powerful with a slight sugary taste in a thick frozen yogurt.  I loved the Strawberry Dole Whip so much that the next day I returned to Hawaiian Bros in order to try their Pineapple Dole Whip, which was equally (if not more) delicious.  Strong pineapple combined with a light sugary flavor creates the “perfect pineapple” without being overly tart.  I am actually not the biggest fan of pineapple because of how acidic it is, but I can eat the Pineapple Dole Whip over and over again without ever being sick of it.  If you’re debating on trying Dole Whip for the first time, drop everything and go get it, and you’ll end up being as addicted to it as I am.

As Augustana’s Unofficial Food Journalist, it’s my mission to share the best eats across the Quad Cities, and I can confidently say that the Pineapple and Strawberry Dole Whip are one of the best of the best eats.  Now if you excuse me, you can also get a swirl of Pineapple and Strawberry Dole Whip from Hawaiian Bros and I’ve been dying to try it, so don’t mind me dropping everything and running.
