My Favorite Place to Get a Snack in the Quad Cities

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Augustana chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.

At this point, I think I’m Augustana’s unofficial HerCampus food journalist.  So if there’s any food advice you need, feel free to turn to me.

For this article, I want to talk about my favorite place to get a snack in the quad cities.  I’m constantly “on the run”, so I don’t always enjoy getting a full meal when I have to be somewhere in fifteen minutes.  However, I know that I should eat something so I don’t feel nauseous later.  That’s why I love side dishes, such as fries, a side salad, or anything else that is not considered the main course in the meal.  I can eat these fast enough so I’m not running late to my next event and my stomach isn’t growling endlessly.  Plus, I like them better than the main course.  But the place I want to discuss isn’t technically a restaurant that serves full meals, but side dishes (or appetizers in some cases).  In fact, they only serve drinks and a variation of one type of food: the soft pretzel.  It doesn’t matter if you go to the one in the Walmart in Moline or in the NorthPark Mall in Davenport, this place serves the best soft pretzels I have ever had.

I’m talking about Wetzel’s pretzels.

I am a diehard fan of soft pretzels and I have loved them ever since I was a little kid.  I’ve been eating them my entire life, and yet one bite from Wetzel’s made me wonder why I didn’t try this place sooner.  Their pretzels are literal perfection: crispy and golden brown and the top and bottom while having a doughy and chewy inside.  No other place I’ve been to has made pretzels like Wetzel’s had, and I’ve been to a lot.  I don’t even need to get salt or butter with it because the pretzel is fantastic all by itself.  I usually go for the  original pretzel bites, which are around $6.  I know that there are cheaper options for a snack, but these bites are worth every single penny.  If the original pretzel bites aren’t your thing, there are other options, such as multiple full pretzel flavors or the pepperoni or hot dog pretzel bites.  You’ll never run out of options to try at Wetzel’s.  If you’re not hungry, that’s okay too!  Wetzel’s has plenty of drinks, such as their original lemonade or their frozen granitas or even a wide variety of fountain drinks.  The workers at both locations in the quad cities always serve with a smaller and are always fast and efficient.  I can’t remember one bad experience I had at a Wetzel’s, and I have been there more times than I can count.  So, if you need a quick snack that does not lack in deliciousness, Wetzel’s Pretzels is your new favorite go-to.

That’s all the food advice I got for you today.  If you’re still hungry for more, check out some of my other articles about places to eat and drink in the quad cities.
