Clay boys

They walk alone

Through hills of pointed velvet

Through clouds of melted coal

They stare

Right ahead

Where I stand on washed-up diamonds

One more step and they swallow me whole

I guess it’s just the wicky sticks

Punching in

But my mind’s butterflies are

Racing by

And in the boys I see both your faces

Hiding there

If only you were both by my side

Holding me

I miss you and your old boyfriend

Your rosey smile and his broken teeth

Flying down the sky’s highway

Golden wings never get old

I miss you and your old boyfriend

His tattooed eyes and your painted laugh

The stars cried when we walked past them

Summer days never felt so cool

Clay boys

Just stand still

Let the diamonds crash below me

Let the addiction swallow me whole

I miss you and your old boyfriend

Blue eyed baby with her man on a string

Heartless cash and green apple grudges

Living life as though we’re never free

I miss you and your old boyfriend

They way you cried and how he said “please”

Our holy home built out of delusions

Never had hope but I found peace

Clay boys

Let me be

Let me be

I miss you and your old boyfriend

i miss u and ur old boyfriend

Olivia Fleming

Augustana '23

Hi! My name is Olivia, and I am a freshman at Augustana college. I am studying Psychology, English, and Creative Writing. With the hope of becoming a clinical or forensic psychologist. This is my first year writing for HerCampus and I specialize in poetry and fictional writing. Some of my hobbies include writing (obviously), traveling, passing time with friends, and playing the cello. At college, I am a part of the literary magazine, psychology club, NAMI, the orchestra, and some leadership and service clubs. One fun fact about me is that I have traveled out of the country five times!
