Everyone’s favorite season is finally here, but we can’t forget that the pandemic still isn’t over. It is important to adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines this fall, and there are lots of fun and safe ways to do so while social distancing. If you need some ideas on how to enjoy the new season here is a list of some favorite socially distant fall activities to keep you and your family safe.

1. Pumpkin and Apple Picking

For some families, pumpkin and apple picking is already an annual must-do for fall. Especially this autumn, there is no easier way to enjoy the changing seasons while still keeping your distance between yourself and others than by strolling through the endless aisles of apple trees and picking out the perfect pumpkins to carve. Just remember to have a mask handy in case you come close to other people!

2. Go on Bike Rides

Biking is a great way to get some easy exercise in your day, and you can also use this to see the pretty fall colors around your town! It is the perfect opportunity to get some fresh air, enjoy the season, and social distance from those around you.

3. Find a Nature Trail to Walk (or Run)

With winter quickly approaching, it is so important to enjoy the last days of warmth and beauty in nature. Going on a long walk is a great way to appreciate the outdoors while having quality time with your friends and family. And if you’re feeling up to it, running a path is another great way to take in all of the sights around you!

4. Watch a Football Game

Although buying tickets to a sporting event is not possible this year, everyone can still relax and watch the game from the comfort and warmth of their own home. Grab some friends or family, cook your favorite game-day snacks, and enjoy the game!

5. Have a Bonfire

This is a super-easy way to establish distanced seats away from other people while still enjoying a favorite fall festivity. Gather around the fire, make some s’mores, and tell spooky stories as the sun sets. Or if you like, you can sing your favorite campfire songs under the stars while wrapped in a warm blanket.

6. Take Pictures

Whether the photo is of you or of the scenery around you, fall is a perfect Instagram opportunity to take stunning pictures with the changing colors of the season. Dress up in your favorite fall outfit, find a friend, and make sure you are at least six feet apart to take some pictures!

7. Carve Pumpkins

After picking out the perfect pumpkins from the patch, grab some supplies and start carving the pumpkins to make a jack-o’-lantern. This is a great way to decorate your home to fit the changing season. Another great way to spice up the pumpkin is to use a scented candle inside, which lights the jack-o’-lantern and brings you comforting fall smells!
