Carla Bennett: Dreaming Big

I recently sat down with Carla Bennett to talk about a Youtube channel she has made active again. Whether it’s aiming to excel in her Youtube endeavors, or to thrive during a difficult Lacrosse practice, Carla is definitely dreaming big.

Major(s)/Minor(s): Biology and Neuroscience majors with a minor in Spanish

Campus Involvement: Lacrosse, Delta Chi Theta Sorority, First-year student mentor, Achoo and Jets, Fellowship of Christian Athletes

When did you become interested in Youtube?

“Grade school or eighth grade…that’s when I started watching Youtube videos.”

What about your interest in creating makeup and fashion videos?

“I became interested in makeup and fashion in high school…but I never thought I’d ever be good at [making videos].” 

Are there any obstacles you thought would get in the way when you first began your channel?

“A while ago I didn’t think that I’d ever have the time, which is funny to think about because I am currently a college athlete, which is extremely time-consuming.” 

Does being a college athlete affect how people treat you now that they know you have a Youtube channel?

“Sometimes someone will tell me that because I like makeup and fashion that I can’t wear sweats…it’s weird.”

How do you hope fellow students at Augie will respond to your channel?

“I already receive so much support from my sorority sisters, I hope everyone responds positively to it.”

What do you hope to personally gain from your channel?

“I want to improve my makeup skills and help others do the same.” 

What keeps you going?

“My family.”
