After the glitter finally washes off, the celebrating dies down, and the smoke from the sparklers finally disappears, it’s time to bring in the NEW YEAR at least! A clean slate, a fresh start, a new year, and a new you…right? But who are we kidding? “New Years Resolutions” are proven to be the most unlikely promises to maintain. Every year, heaps of women from all over come up with lists of dreamy, yet irrational, goals that they hope to accomplish before the new year is complete, but how long do these strict “new you” policies actually last? A month? Two months max? Then there’s the too realistic women that argue against resolutions because they only bring disappoint upon themselves.
Well, to start of the 2013 year, let’s not jump to either side of the spectrum. Sit down for a few minutes and think about the highs and lows of your 2012 year, and think about what you could have done to make your all time greatest memories and moments even GREATER. Do you wish you spent your money more wisely? Do you wish you focused more in school or maybe, didn’t focus as much? Maybe you don’t feel as good about your physical appearance as you once did? Or possibly, you just wish you were more involved in things you enjoy? Before making any drastic resolutions, think about the REALISTIC alterations you want to make in your lifestyle. Remember, the key here is to come up with changes that you WANT to accomplish that don’t seem impossible from the get-go. Don’t get wrapped up in the cliché, faux goals that people bail on after their “dream spring break bod” plan is over.
Do something wonderful for yourself that YOU can be proud of a year from now! Do something so satisfying that when you’re looking back on 2013 to see what could make your good moments GREAT, there’s nothing you would change. New Years Resolutions (when created realistically) really can change your life. Don’t be scared to just GO FOR IT! Maybe that should be everyone’s first resolution on her list? Happy New Year!
