My Perfect Weekend Getaway

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Auburn chapter.

Last week was a hard one for me, and I’m sure you guys can relate with the way college goes. I wanted to stay home for the weekend and Halloween, sad right?

A friend invited me to Atlanta for the weekend—I finally said I would, and it was the best decision. I thought I needed to go to a beach or something to clear my mind, but honestly a lot of fun is all you need.

Saturday evening we went to Morehouse and Spellman’s homecoming, which was a lot of fun, plus free food. There I wore an off the shoulder red and blue top with jeans and sandals. I think the outfit was perfect for a chill day of tailgating.

That night we went to a Halloween party and it had the best view. The upper car deck overlooked the city and I honestly felt like Carrie Bradshaw.

I wore a pink velvety dress and a fury cream sweater with black bunny ears, which made me feel like a little diva.

The next day was the best part because we went to a place called the Ponce City Market. It’s like a mall, but it has a more artsy feel. You can also go to the Beltline from it. As you walk the Beltline, you can see different sculptures and murals on walls and cool grafitti.

I wore black jeans and a black halter top with a jean oversized button down shirt. Not only did we get to see cool art, but were able to be art.

A friend of ours had a camera and so we decided to have a photoshoot and I think my outfit was perfect for the artsy, hippie vibes.

Everything on the Beltline can be artsy, we even used the bikers and walkers/runners. If you ever need a break from school or anything, I think Atlanta is one of the best places to go.

It’s not too far from Auburn and you might think you’ve seen everything, but you can always find something to do. Plus, I highly recommend going to Ponce City Market and The Beltline.

Atlanta, or any big city at that, is the perfect place for a clear mind and some funky outfits. It’s close to Auburn, so you won’t be too rushed to come back or feel too far from home. Also, it’s a great place to see some cool outfits.

There some people wearing things people wouldn’t dare to wear in Auburn. If you’re anything like me, you love wearing unusual outfits, and when you do, you feel right at home. That’s how Atlanta made me feel, because no one judged any outfits, especially the bunny one.

Don’t get me wrong, I know my other outfits aren’t funky or super different, but I think they worked for the environment I was in.

Next time you need a break, before you try and make that trip to the beach or some where kind of far, think about Atlanta.
