It’s that time of year again, Christmas is in less than a month and the holiday shopping season is already upon us. Unfortunately, a college student’s budget leaves the coin purse with a little less jingle in it than desirable. The sun may have set on lemonade stand business era in about the fourth grade, but have no fear because there are a variety of ways to make a little extra cash on the internet.

1.      Sell your textbooks. When exams are over, turn unneeded books into cash! www.bookscouter.com allows you to compare prices and find the best rate at which to sell your book on the internet. Just type in the ISBN number, choose the vendor, print a free shipping label, and viola, the check should be in the mail within a few weeks.
2.      Come up with domain names. If you’re creative and have a knack for thinking of slogans or domain names check out www.pickydomains.com. Submit recommendations for website names and slogans. For each idea of yours that is chosen, you can earn a portion of the profits generally amounting to between $25-35.
3.      Write for About.com. Ever fancied yourself as an expert in a certain subject matter? Apply to write for www.about.com and receive compensation based on how many page views your articles rack up.  The more relevant your articles are to current events and interests, the more likely they are to show up in Google searches.
4.      Get paid for blogging. Some personal blogging websites such as www.blogger.com gives their bloggers the opportunity to monetize their blog through advertisements. Compensation is based on how many page views the blog gets. Other third party sites, such as www.payperpost.com, offer bloggers a chance to make money by posting about a particular product or service. It’s as simple as submitting your URL, naming the price you will charge, and writing for various advertisers.
5.      Sell your notes. With exams coming up, chances are that you’re probably already preparing notes and study guides for each of your classes, so why not sell them too? www.notehall.com allows you to upload materials that you’ve compiled for classes and then sell them to your fellow classmates, easy as pie!
6.      Get money for random tasks. www.microworkers.com is a website that pays small amounts for participating in quick and miscellaneous tasks online. These mini-jobs can include voting for photos, bookmarking websites, following companies on twitter, “liking” Facebook pages, and more. MicoWorkers may not rake in the big bucks, but it’s simple, incredibly easy, and will definitely leave you with an extra chunk of change if you put in the effort.

There you have it, happy earning, everybody! If these ideas don’t strike your fancy, get creative; after all, the world is always looking for the next big innovative project.
