The Enneagram: The World Needs All Kinds of People

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Auburn chapter.

This past week I stumbled upon one of the latest and greatest self help trends, The Enneagram. The Enneagram is a personality test similar to the classic “Myers Briggs” test that shows your strengths, weaknesses, common tendencies, thoughts and so much more. I am a lover of all things unraveling why I do the things I do. This test takes you into a deeper level of self-reflection and understanding. Once you are done answering the questions, your results assign your personality type to a number. For example, I was assigned a three also known as “The Achiever.”

Threes are often hard working, competitive and focused on their goals. They typically have a zest for life and are usually very extroverted. At the same time, they value self image and can often put on a facade of “having it all together.” They value being worthy on this Earth and desire affirmation to solidify that they are doing so.

As you can see, every number has its own set of pros and cons. I highly encourage you to take the test and see what you get. You never know how it might help you better understand yourself! It takes all types of people to make the world go round. You can look at the different results and take the test below!

  • 1.) The Reformer: The Rational, Idealistic Type: Principled, Purposeful, Self-Controlled, and Perfectionistic
  • 2.) The Helper: The Caring, Interpersonal Type: Demonstrative, Generous, People-Pleasing, and Possessive
  • 3.) The Achiever: The Success-Oriented, Pragmatic Type: Adaptive, Excelling, Driven, and Image-Conscious
  • 4.) The Individualistic: The Sensitive, Withdrawn Type: Expressive, Dramatic, Self-Absorbed, and Temperamental
  • 5.) The Loyalist: The Committed, Security-Oriented Type: Engaging, Responsible, Anxious, and Suspicious
  • 6.) The Enthusiast: The Busy, Fun-Loving Type: Spontaneous, Versatile, Distractible, and Scattered
  • 7.) The Challenger: The Powerful, Dominating Type: Self-Confident, Decisive, Willful, and Confrontational
  • 8.) The Peacemaker: The Easygoing, Self-Effacing Type: Receptive, Reassuring, Agreeable, and Complacent
