5 Twitter Accounts You Should Be Following

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Auburn chapter.

Being funny in real life is difficult, but being funny in 140 characters or less is the ultimate challenge today. Somehow a number of Twitter users have mastered the art of humor gaining thousands of followers, retweets and favorites along the way. Here are five of the best Twitter accounts that you should be following!!

1. Taco Bell @TacoBell

Taco Bell understands college students. The company’s cheap prices bring college kids flocking to its doors. Its restaurants are also open later than other chains, which means their hours are perfect for grabbing nachos for a study break or satisfying that burrito craving after a night downtown. Add a Twitter presence full of fan interaction and humorous original tweets, and Taco Bell may be the most successful brand on Twitter. The company frequently responds to users with declarations of love and even sends gifts like letters and Halloween costumes to lucky followers. Taco Bell’s interactions with its fans are a must for your Twitter feed.

2. Kelly Oxford @kellyoxford

Author, screenwriter and Beyonce fan Kelly Oxford is one of the funniest ladies on the Internet. Think an edgier Mindy Kaling. She tweets ridiculously tales of children asking for room-temperature water and discussing their yoga teachers to let her followers in on what it’s like to live in Los Angeles, and always has the best responses to users asking who she is. Her hilarious answers have included Will Smith’s dance teacher and Justin Bieber’s drug dealer. Oxford’s humor is refreshing and will probably be filling up your favorites section on Twitter soon.

3. Shakespeare Lyrics @ShakespeareSong

What would life be like if the works of William Shakespeare existed today in the form of popular song lyrics? This Twitter account shows you, and it is hilarious. The account transforms lyrics from a variety of genres and has featured songs from artists like Kings of Leon, Outkast and One Direction. Between the many lyrics, users can find a tweet or two referencing movies like “Mean Girls.” Every tweet is like a guessing game, which is why this account is perfect for killing time before class or at home.

4. Netflix @netflix

Netflix has brought about a new phenomenon known as “binge watching” which happens when a person becomes addicted to a television show available on the site. The company also seems to have time to run a Twitter account to reassure its users that staying in on a Friday night to watch Netflix is totally acceptable. It has even tweeted tips at users on how to appear refreshed in the morning after a long night of watching 20 episodes of “Gossip Girl.” With a combination of hilarious user interactions and the occasional joke about a classic movie, the genius behind the account knows how to use Twitter to make Netflix seem like your new best friend.

5. Women’s Humor @WomensHumor

This one is for the ladies! Nothing is off limits for this account that discusses everything about being a woman from the hardships of wearing heels all night to the completely acceptable behavior of having a better relationship with your bed than any actual human being. Other topics include the inevitable and unintentional swipe to the right on Tinder, excitement surrounding leggings season and the choice to take life advice from “Clueless.” Trust me, ladies. These tweets will have you saying, “That is so true!”
