4 Natural Products to Take Care of Dry Hair and Hair Loss This Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Auburn chapter.

It’s fall season already! And that means cozy sweater, candles, pumpkin spice everything, and, unfortunately, it also means dry hair and hair loss. After a summer full of sunlight, beach and pools, our hair is damaged. And fall is the perfect time of the year to repair your damaged hair and make it shine. The best part is that you can even do it with some natural ingredients that are easy to find at home (even for college students!).

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is great for everything. And we can find it in many different forms and products, but 100% coconut oil is going to be a great ally for both your hair and your skin, and it’s all natural. You can apply it after your shower in small quantities to moisturize the ends, or apply it as a mask before your shower and remove the oily excess with shampoo.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is also a great option. Like many other oils, olive oil moisturizes your hair deeply and helps to repair split ends. Olive oil can also help to prevent hair loss. If you don’t want to use it directly on your hair, you can find many drugstore hair products that contain olive oil and work just as well.

Honey

Yes, honey is good for your hair! And the best way to apply it is by creating a mask. You can mix honey and milk or yogurt to create a creamy and perfect hair mask. You can also combine it with olive oil or coconut oil and egg, leave it on for a few minutes (up to an hour), and wash it off with your regular shampoo. Honey is ideal to prevent scalp infections, itchiness, and contains antioxidants which help to prevent hair loss and hair breakage.

Avocado

Avocado is not only yummy, but it helps to keep your hair flexible, hydrated, and soft. You can apply it as a mask once or twice a week to give your hair great texture. Because of its fats, proteins, and natural oils, avocado is great for your hair. And if you want even better results, combine it with aloe vera, olive oil, honey, or coconut oil.

It’s that easy! With these products, which most of us have at home, you can take care of your damaged hair with 100% natural components, and prevent hair loss. You can mix them, or use them separately, and find what works best for you.
