Stars were dressed to the nines at the 2014 Academy Awards on Sunday. Stars gushed about who they were wearing to entertainment reporters as they posed for cameras. The Oscars are a very black-tie event and celebreties are expected to come draped in elegance. However, some outfits just did not meet the Oscar beauty standards. Here’s what we think were the three weirdest Oscar looks.
1) Pharrell Williams and Helen Lasichanh
Pharrell Williams and Helen Lasichanh sported a pair of strange outfits. Pharrell Williams arrived without his iconic hat on Sunday, deciding that his socks should stay home with it. However, the most striking part about his outfit were his tuxedo shorts. Journalist Lance Ulanoff commented of the outfit in his hilarious tweet that said, “@Pharrell loses the hat and half his pants #Oscars 2014.”Although we understand that she was going for chic and sophisticated, Helen Lasichanh’s pantsuit would have looked better if it weren’t for her overly large, droopy bowtie.
2) The Edge
Contrary to Pharrell Williams, The Edge, guitarist of U2, wore his iconic hat to the Oscars. The Edge wore a suit with black sparkles on it along with a black beanie. Luckily, Benedict Cumberbatch took the attention away from the out-of-place beanie with his photobomb.
3) Liza Minnelli
Liza Minnelli wore a very bold look to this years Oscars cerimony. She wore shiny blue pants to match her oversized off-shoulder, long-sleeve shirt. Minnelli is also just too old for the blue streak she put in her hair. Overall, the outfit was very loud and did not flaunt ger her figure. Perez Hilton jokingly compared her look to Wyldstyle from The Lego Movie.
