Valentine’s Day is approaching fast and for many of us single ladies, it can be a challenging time. Scrolling through social media and seeing all of these cute couples can remind us of what we don’t have. It’s hard not to let the feelings of loneliness and longing consume us, but Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be a day full of negativity and bitterness. Valentine’s Day is not just for couples celebrating their love for each other; it can be a day where we celebrate the love we have for ourselves. You can either be sad you’re alone, or you can embrace it and show the world how much you love yourself! Here are a few ways you can celebrate self-love on Valentine’s Day as a single woman:

Date yourself. You read that right, take yourself out on dates and treat yourself how you would treat a significant other. Take yourself out to a nice dinner, run a bubble bath with candles and rose petals, buy your favorite candies and flowers; do anything for yourself that would show the world how much you love you!

Celebrate Galentine’s Day with your crew. What could be better than a day dedicated to celebrating all the wonderful ladies in our lives? Spending time with your beloved friends can not only help you cure those feelings of loneliness, but it can make you and your friends feel loved and appreciated.

Post hot pics on your Instagram. Cute couple pics don’t have to conquer all social media on V-day. Get as dressed up or dressed down as you want, and snap a couple of cute pics for the ‘gram. Taking pics of yourself when you’re feeling empowered can help you feel even more confident. It may even empower other beautiful gals to do so as well. Celebrating your beauty and confidence is a great way to practice self-love.

Treat Valentine’s Day as if it’s just another day. The ultimate act of self-love is doing what’s best for you. If it would make you feel better to completely ignore Valentine’s Day and continue as normal, then do it! If seeing it all over social media upsets you, temporarily deactivate your accounts, or avoid it. You could even take it a step further and let your friends and family know that you don’t want to acknowledge it. Self-love is all about making sure you’re happy and healthy, so if Valentine’s Day makes you feel too many negative emotions, then it may be best to treat it as just another day.

Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to focus on yourself and practice self-love. Curving the bitterness and deciding to make it a good day despite the negative emotions that may come up is such a beautiful thing. Choose love on Valentine’s Day and every day!
