Celebrate Selena Quintanilla’s Life and Birthday With These Amazing Gifts For Yourself!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at ASU chapter.

Selena Quintanilla was born April 16th, 1971, and would be turning 47 years old this year. From her impact on music, style, or her role in shaping an entire generation, Selena Quintanilla’s legacy continues to live on more than two decades after her death. This year the amount of time that has passed since her death is equal to the amount of time she spent on this earth, 23 years. At the time of her death, Selena died a Grammy winner and the owner of her own clothing line and boutiques. The year following her death, the film Selena would be released and her memory would continue to remain alive and well.

During her life, Selena was known for her humanitarian work and was involved in a variety of community projects. She even did a video for public schools entitled Mi Musica about the importance of staying in school. Her community service efforts were awarded and celebrated when on April 8, 1994, the mayor of Houston proclaimed that day, “Selena Quintanilla Day.” In the spirit of giving and celebrating the life of the Queen of Tejano Music, here are some gifts to give yourself and the Selena lovers around you in celebration of her birthday on April 16th.
