5 SoCal Brands You Need In Your Closet

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at ASU chapter.

Undoubtedly, Southern California is the epitome of minimal, grunge, comfy, and beach fashion. In fact, when I first moved to SoCal I was told that I wasn’t a true Californian until I took all the denim in my closet and dragged it along the pristine, warm, white sand of the beach and dipped it into the crisp salt water. It was a baptism into the church of California fashion and I was lucky to be a member of it.

That being said, living in SoCal gives you access to shop at several independent boutiques that love to support small local brands based out of Los Angeles. Below are my five favorite SoCal stores you need to shop right now! Because every girl needs a little bit of California sunshine in her closet!

1. Irene’s Story

Chic and trendy, Irene’s Story is your go to when you are looking for cool colors and thin fabrics for the warm summer. With several locations scattered throughout SoCal, this Los Angeles based brand also has a great online boutique that ships throughout the U.S.!

2. LF Stores

Vintage, grungy, and edgy LA girls shop here. Although a bit on the pricey side, LF Stores have one of the best sales of the season with up to 60% off full price items. Don’t worry if you’re not in Southern California because you can also shop online!

3. Not Another Label

I first discovered this cool, hip, and fashionable tee shirt brand when I was shopping at a boutique near my house! Known for their “motorcycle” tee, Not Another Label sells premium cotton shirts that I swear, get softer after every wash. In fact, there “motorcycle tee” is so popular that they usually sell out at independent boutiques within a few days. However, you can shop online anytime and the greatest part is that they offer free shipping within the U.S. because, “We love ya like that.”

4. Nectar Clothing

With only six of each items in stock, Nectar is constantly changing their look. If you love something, stock up because it might not be there the next time you go into the store! Nectar also offers a rewards program- when you sign up, they send you coupons and in store exclusives! It is also worth checking them out online because they show you how many of each size are still available in stores!

5. Hobie Surf Shop

For all the beach goers out there, you will love this surfer brand based out of sunny Laguna Beach in Orange County. Shop cute bikinis, surfer tees, and flowy dresses to feel like you’re hanging out on the West Coast at any time of the year! Hobie also offers an online boutique and ships their items for free with a purchase of $100 or more!
