Is it summer already? It is that time of the year when we get to spend time with ourselves and pamper ourselves after a stressful year of college. And what better way to spend it with books and a glass of iced tea?

Ready to read something new and different this summer? Well, look no further! Here are our top 5 picks for this summer, books you won’t be able to put down.

1. The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin – The novel is about the Gold children who know the exact dates of their death in 1969 in New York. The four Gold children who are adolescents are on the cusp of self-awareness sneak out to hear their fortunes. The prophecies tell them about the next 5 decades. Simon is searching for love in San Francisco, Klara is a Las Vegas Magician, Daniel is an army doctor post 9/11 and Varya is a researcher of science and immortality.

 2. Brave by Rose McGowan – Brave is a memoir by the actress and activist Rose McGowan. The book is a detail about her childhood living as a part of a controversial group known as the Children of God and her alleged sexual assault by Harvey Weinstein.

3. The Female Persuasion by Meg Wolitzer – “To be admired by someone we admire – we all yearn for this: the private, electrifying pleasure of being singled out by someone of esteem. 4. The Flame by Leonard Cohen – The Flame is a collection of Leonard Cohen’s poems, selected and ordered by the author in the final months of his life. Featuring lyrics, prose pieces, and illustrations, the book also contains a selection from Cohen’s notebooks, which he kept in poetic form throughout his life, and offers an intimate look inside the life and mind of a singular artist and thinker.

5. Not that bad: Dispatches from Rape Culture edited by Roxane Gay – Gay follows up her prolific 2017 with an anthology of rising and established authors examining the realities of living in a society where men pose the greatest threat to a woman’s safety and well-being.
