10 Movies Worth Watching This Year (Part I)

Every new year comes with a set of new movies to watch. 2019 will be no different. This year will witness some blockbusters, some art films, and some sequels to old running movies.This year both Bollywood and Hollywood are preparing to give their viewers some amazing hits, some of which are:

 

Bollywood

 

1. Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga

Love stories are complex and enriching. Everyone has a different love story to share, and this movie has an unexpected twist. Sweety’s love story involves her family, who wants her to get married, a writer who loves her, and one secret that no one knows about. It is a secret that might not find any acceptance in her family: Sweety is a lesbian. The movie focuses on how she convinces her family to accept her identity.This is a movie with a story that Indian cinema is making for the first time on a large scale, with an amazing star cast.

2. Gully Boy

India has an abundance of talent, and this talent exists outside the normative boundaries of class and gender. This movie is about the talent of one such man. It is about an aspiring rapper, Aftab Sheikh, from a slum in Bombay. It looks at his journey of transcending the limits of his class, as he follows his passion to become a rapper.

3. The Sky is Pink

The Sky is Pink is an upcoming biographical drama film about a motivational speaker, Aisha Chaudhary, who was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. Aisha’s doctor had given her just one year to live, unless she underwent a bone marrow transplant. Even then she would have been under risk. Aisha died in 2015 and is famously known for her book My Little Epiphanies.

4. Luka Chuppi

We have all seen movies about Indian marriages, but what happens if this marriage is preceded by a live-in relationship? The movie revolves around a TV reporter and a headstrong woman.

5. Photograph

The movie is about a struggling street photographer from Mumbai who works hard in order to pay off a family debt. His grandfather wants him to get married, and due to this pressure he finds a stranger to act as his fiance. The movie is actually an ode to Mumbai, and the city is portrayed almost as a character of its own that protects the two protagonists on their journey of friendship.

1.The Lion King

The nostalgic, emotional film by Walt Disney is returning  in a new avatar. It is the same story of Mufasa and Simba, the loving father-son duo, who face ultimate separation because of Scar. The remake will bring back bittersweet memories from the  animated version of the same.

3. Isn’t it Romantic

This is an American-Australian satirical fantasy comedy film. It follows a woman who hits her head and wakes up in a world presented like that of a romantic comedy film.

4. Glass

Glass is an American superhero thriller. It is a sequel to Shyamalan’s previous movies Unbreakable and Split. Together they form the Eastrail 177 Trilogy. It is about humans who possess superhuman abilities.

5. It: Chapter Two

This movie is an American Supernatural horror film and the sequel to the 2017 film ‘It’. Both the movies are an adaptation of the 1986 novel by Stephen King. This movie is set in 2016, 26 years after the events of 1989 in the first part of the film.
