We were all fans of the iconic “Fireflies” toe-tapper from the ninth grade. Something about Owl City just hypes us up, let’s be real — whether it’s Adam Young sharing visuals of his imagination or the flowery feel to the music, he’s the artist that every girl should keep on their iPod. Check out these five feel-good tunes sung by Owl City for your summer walk or workout!
1.) Fireflies
Basically, Adam relays the story of seeing ten-thousand fireflies that teach him how to dance. Believe it or not, the song has a little depth to it. Fireflies talks about what every person can, usually, agree with — dreams being better than your reality. The message here? Live them. Take life slowly, and enjoy the dreams while you can.
2.) Hot Air Balloon
This has been my all-time favorite summer song. If you’ve ever had that childhood best friend you fought imaginary dragons with, you’ll definitely revive those memories. Hot Air Balloon will remind you of the childhood innocence and fun that we sometimes forget about, and reminds us that the power of imagination, fun and creativity is still something to cherish.
3.) If My Heart Was A House
A slower song, but it will get you thinking about cuddling, puppies and flowers. Basically, you’ll get the adorable retelling of a boy who loves a girl, and he’s begging for her to fall for him just as hard. All of the little memories of her come into play in this song, and in the chorus, he reminds her that she has a home in his heart.
4.) Umbrella Beach
If you’re a techno fan, Umbrella Beach will get you going. What is it talking about? No idea. The video is adorable, though. Take what you will from it!
5.) Strawberry Avalanche
Yet another installation promoting the power of imagination and friendship, Owl City does such a cool job of describing a wintery excursion through a fruity winter wonderland. As corny as it sounds, give it a shot! I mean, come on, even the title sounds cool.
