In celebration of the arrival of Spring, this week’s Campus Celebrity has owned the baseball field since 2002. Coach Dave Van Horn has been Arkansas’ head baseball coach for 24 seasons!
Dave Van Horn is married with two daughters, Hollan and Mariel.
Dave played baseball for McLennan Community College in Texas for a total of two years, where he received several honors as only a Freshman, including both all-conference and all-region. Later, Dave Van Horn turned down the Chicago White Sox draft to transfer to Arkansas for the 1982 baseball season. Under the instruction of Dave, Arkansas has been led into the World Series three times, and has never missed the SEC Tournament.
For our current season, Coach Van Horn’s record stands at 462-256. His career record is an outstanding 1047-496! In 2009, Arkansas set a record for single-game attendance after reaching 11,434 fans in the seats. The overall attendance for that one season was a phenomenal 269,216 people! Coach Van Horn is a force not to be reckoned with, and the Hogs are lucky to have him!
