One Day with Sam Shafer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Arizona chapter.

Looking for a cool new place to hang out or local eats to try? Wildcats, there are more places to go in Tucson than University.  Watch the Daily Wildcat’s new web series, “One Day with Sam Shafer,” a series that showcases different places around Tucson. Shafer, a communications senior, is the host of the show. It was created and produced by media arts senior, Heather DiPietro.  DiPietro, a videographer for the Arizona Daily Wildcat, recently interviewed celebs Adrian Grenier and Joan Rivers.
“The show is great for new students at the University of Arizona or students who aren’t really familiar with campus or places near it. It may seem like the show is designed for freshmen, but we’re really trying to think out of the box for an upper class audience,” DiPietro said. The idea came from watching a lot of video blogging, free style shows on YouTube and Samantha Brown on the Travel Channel. “Web Series are hot these days, so I thought let’s make a quick show that tells students where the best place is to get food or clothes or whatever and see if it gets an audience.”
She said she hopes  viewers will be more encouraged to explore the University of Arizona and see what else it has to offer besides a great education. There are a lot of fun places located on or near campus that are great to hang out with your friends, boyfriend or girlfriend and even family. I want you to know about them so you can get the most out of your college experience.

For Valentine’s Day, host Shafer searched for “the best sweets for Valentine’s Day,” which included dark chocolate gummy bears from Campus Candy, Cupcakes from Red Velvet Cupcakery, and cookies from Paradise Bakery.  Their latest episode takes a closer look at the best pizza places around town. This enticing episode definitely left me craving a slice.
If you’re bored of your daily scene, don’t miss out on this new entertaining series.
