iWould: Taking Facebook to the Next Level

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Arizona chapter.

How unfortunate would it be to miss out on a something great, just because you weren’t sure what the other person thought of you? ‘iWould,’ a new Facebook application is the answer.

Developed by a pair of Columbia University business school students in March 2011, this new tool was created after witnessing several missed opportunities in the dating world. This application takes away the initial questions, and the enormous burden of “making the first move.” Think of it as a secret wish list for dating, or moving a friendship to the next level.

First you create a list of 1 to 10 people from your Facebook friends, who you would like to make more than friends; This can be anything from dating, to partying with, to playing board games with, the sky is the limit! As soon as someone places you on their list, each of you receives an email notification of the match. The next move is up to you, but at least both sides know there is a chance! Most importantly, your iWould list is 100 percent confidential. No one has access to your list, the only people who know are the people who add your to their list. Jamie Ensell, one of the Arizona campus reps for the product explained the iWould application is being revealed to 8 college campuses initially those being, Arizona, UCLA, Duke, Boston University, University of Pennsylvania, Columbia, Cornell, and Emory University. Arizona was chosen as a trial school because of its social and responsible reputation. Jamie says, “You know how Facebook started at only a select few schools? Well this is sort of the same deal and it is projected to be a pretty big hit.”

The only way for the iWould app to be successful is if a lot of people add it. It is free, completely safe, and fun, so try it! Urbandaddy.com describes it as a “private application that lets you separate Facebook friends from Facebook friends-with-benefits.” Overall, it is a fun way to put yourself out there in the dating world, without the nervousness or potential embarrassment of rejection!
