The Grammys Keep Their Celebrities Classy

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Arizona chapter.

This year’s Grammy Awards, presented last night on CBS, asked its female attendants not wear outfits exposing too much skin.

Jennifer Lopez’s infamous green dress with a neckline that revealed half of each breast and her whole stomach from the 2000 Grammy Awards helped to spark this request. So J.Lo did what any good diva would do, she covered her breasts.

“They didn’t say anything about leg!” said Lopez about her long, black dress that hung off her left shoulder and completely revealed her entire right leg.

And J.Lo was right. The memo that Deadline got ahold of simply asked the female celebrities to dress so that their “buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered.”

As J.Lo presented the winner for best pop solo performance, she joked about having read the memo and dressing appropriately.

Other female celebs that found loopholes dress code include Kelly Rowland in her black gown that had cut outs, revealing portions of her breasts, torso, and legs; Katy Perry who wore a pastel green dress with a cutout in the center of her chest; and Alicia Keys who performed in a little black dress with a sheer top half covering on her breasts and center torso with a cross-shaped black fabric.
