The most talked about topic of the year, no not Kim Kardashian’s fairytale wedding…the divorce. 72 days of newlywed bliss and it’s all over. Kim filed for divorce on Monday noting “irreconcilable differences” according to Ryan Seacrest, bearer of all celebrity gossip.
We all called it but no one expected a few 72 days! The wedding special just barely aired three weeks ago. Four hours of E! footage, $10 million, and three wedding dresses later, the union of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries has ended.
Despite the obvious fact that Kim’s wedding was the most obnoxious, glamorous, ridiculous wedding ever, I have the utmost sympathy for the girl. It was clear Kris was not a good fit to the family when he pushed Kim into the clear blue Bahama ocean water in a maxi dress that probably cost more than a month’s rent payment.  As Scott Disick advised to Kris, any man involved with a Kardashian woman should come in knowing it is no ordinary relationship.
Even though I was not Kris’s biggest fan, I admit to being beyond excited for the K&K offspring. Tall, tan, and bootlicious, how could we not be excited?
Kim ultimately had her dream come true and once she lived it, ciao to Kris and happily ever after.
As college women eagerly perusing bar after bar, class after class, even library table after table for our soul mate, we probably know exactly what our dress will look like and who made the bridal party. Weddings are a huge deal for us, especially if a Kardashian is attached. There is no mystery as to why Kim and Kris are getting divorced. They have so much pressure put on them and it would be unrealistic for a newlywed couple to survive. It saddens me to think that such a beautiful couple has broken but it goes to show how artificial outward impressions are. Spending millions on a wedding does not guarantee a lasting relationship.
So did Kim do it right? I mean, she had it all: the wedding, the party, the dress, the ring, the hunky hubby…
Single once again, Kim cannot say she has missed out on anything. Not only did she throw the wedding of the century but she also experienced a true marriage filled with bickering and conflict. Unfortunately, K&K couldn’t handle the pressure and gave into the predictions of divorce. Kris Humphries is no Lamar Odom…
A true lesson can be learned from this Kardashian marriage explosion. As we leave behind the one-night stands, hookup buddies, and friends with benefits of college, we will eventually settle down and wear that white dress. Let us not pull a Kim K. and end a marriage in 72 days. A marriage is still a bond that is meant to last forever and we can only hope that our marriages last for 72 years (72 hours if a Vegas trip went overboard).
