2 DIY Lip Scrub Ideas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Arizona chapter.

Sugar lip scrubs are a great way to get your sweet fix without any of the guilt. With the right ingredients, lip scrubs exfoliate and hydrate your lips, leaving them feeling soft and kissable. And here’s the kicker, you can make some with simple ingredients in your kitchen in about five minutes or less.

Here are a few to try out:

Honey Sugar

Find a small bowl or cup and mix one tablespoon of white sugar with a teaspoon of honey and a teaspoon of coconut oil. The sugar will exfoliate all of the dead skin, while honey is full of anti-microbial properties and antioxidants. The coconut oil soothes and hydrates your lips. Once everything is mixed, scrub it across your lips for about thirty seconds, rinse off with water, and apply a thin coat of coconut oil or your desired lip-hydrating product.

Cocoa Brown Sugar

Again, just mix one tablespoon, using brown sugar this time, with a teaspoon of cocoa powder and a teaspoon of coconut oil. Cocoa is full of antioxidants that fight against free radicals, which contribute to aging.

So go ahead, indulge. Oh, and it’s completely okay to sneak a taste here and there.
