Dear ex-best friend,

You were everything to me. You were my secret keeper and my biggest supporter. You were the person who was supposed to stand next to me on my wedding day and I was supposed to do the same for you. When I lost you, it felt like a death. My heart ached and broke, not because you had died, but because the sweet spirit, so full of pink and yellow, inside of you had diminished and been replaced with this cold, blue.

Wherever you went, I followed and vice versa. We did practically everything together and never got annoyed with the other because we wanted to be together. We wanted to share every memory, we wanted to reminisce on our memories, and we wants to grow together, helping one another along the way.

You used to be someone who was filled with so much love and joy. You were someone who didn’t succumb to the pressure of being a person you weren’t because you were 100% you. I would tell people about the person you were because I was so proud of that person- you were one of a kind. I wish you still were.

You were someone with such a vivacious personality. You were there for anyone who needed you at any time. I loved the person you were because you were a woman of God and you were so supportive. Your heart was so pure and so innocent and I guess I should have seen this coming, but I hoped it never would.

This letter is not a sob story where I play victim because I had my faults, too. It’s also not a letter wishing you well or wanting you back in my life, because I don’t. You’re too different and the person you are now is nothing that I want to be associated with. All I’m saying is I hope you’re happy with the person you are now and how many people you’ve hurt in the process.

Sincerely,

Your former best friend
