I remember anticipating my first day of college in 2018 — feverishly planning my outfits and color coordinating every clothing piece for hours. This is how people dress in the movies, right? Glammed 24/7, full-faced makeup, and pedicured nails. I was excited thinking I will have the possibility to dress trendy for the next coming years! Looking back, I think I had too high of expectations, because in reality, I did none of that. These past years, I’ve been wearing sweats and hoodies because I figured out in my first week of school that I just wanted to be comfortable! Although I like dressing this way, I feel like my style hasn’t changed since my freshman year. I’m tired of looking the same, and it wasn’t until this year that I decided that I wanted to change my image. If you are going through something similar, here are some transformation ideas that could inspire you to change your appearance!

Change Your Hair

Haircut? That’s one hell of a scary move. Or at least, that’s what I thought at first, but sometimes trying something new can help you realize that you may end up liking the risk! Try looking up hairstyles you would like to try. If you don’t want to cut your hair, experiment with styling or change your hair color. An important step is to make sure to research where you will be getting your haircut. If you’re going to do it yourself, practice on a wig or watch tutorials. The last thing you want is a bad hairstyle! Once you look in the mirror you’ll realize how different you looked before. Whether it’s a pixie cut, perm, braided, bangs, or highlights, look for ones that will make you feel beautiful!

Add Some Jewelry

Wearing jewelry can enhance your appearance and give you a sense of style. Your jewelry can be very simple for starters. For instance, wearing a necklace and earrings will be just fine! If you want to go the extra mile, you can wear rings and bracelets too. Experiment with different kinds of jewelry, it can range from rose gold, silver, copper, or ceramic. If you’re not comfortable with jewelry, you can add accessories such as a hat, eyewear, belt, and much more.

Experiment With Makeup

As someone who doesn’t like to wear makeup as I used to, I came to realize that wearing makeup doesn’t have to be excessive and can actually be simple. Instead of foundation, you can find an SPF with a tint that matches your skin. Rather than using lipstick, you can use a lip balm with a tint. As for eyeshadow, you don’t have to purchase a wide range of color palettes, but use a 4 shade palette to keep your makeup minimal. If you have a pink shade, you can use it as a blush and a lip tint. Get creative and use what you have! If minimal is not your style, go all out and diva-size your look!

Update Your Wardrobe

I used to wear hoodies and joggers all the time, anything that kept me comfortable I would wear. Although it is not wrong to wear sweatpants and jackets, I found new clothing that made me feel comfortable but looked different from what I usually wear. If you see that your wardrobe has repetitive clothes, I think it’s time to change your clothing and donate the ones that look similar to the clothes you already have. Experiment with different clothes and if you want to get some ideas you can go to Pinterest to find inspiration for what you would like to wear!

Illuminate Your Face

A couple of years ago, I didn’t know what skincare was. I only used a face wash and then called it a day. What was I thinking back then? I didn’t realize that using skincare products could actually keep your skin healthy and that using a good moisturizer could give a glow to your face. Using good skin care can help you give your face a healthy look depending on the product. Research your skin type and try skincare that will protect your skin. An important part of skin care is a moisturizer and sunscreen, as it’s a key to illuminating your skin. Skincare is a time-consuming process, but it will help you in the long run and keep your face looking refreshed.
