Thanksgiving is always a favorite holiday, especially with my family. However, this day of feasting, football, and giving thanks can be troublesome for vegetarians and people with a gluten intolerance. A lack of choices from sides to after-dinner treats can make their stomachs unhappy. To help them feel the love, try these vegetarian and gluten free recipes for your Thanksgiving dinner!

1.     Roasted Pumpkin Sage Soup

Thanksgiving is nothing without something pumpkin flavored, so wow your family and friends with this savory pumpkin and sage soup. Made with fresh pumpkin pie pumpkins (easy to find at the grocery store), this soup can serve as a light appetizer or a hearty side to a meatless entrée. It’s simple to make and will satisfy your guests. Try something new!

2.     Stuffed Mushrooms

These little finger foods are gluten free, vegan, soy free, and refined sugar free, so they will please even the pickiest of eaters. All you need is a blender and the ingredients and you’re set! Check them out on Clean, Green, Simple!

3.     Gluten Free Apple Crisps

Dessert is a must for this holiday, but sometimes being gluten-intolerant can limit your choices. Make them feel included by baking this warm apple crisp. A harmony of different spices and fresh granny smith apples send this dish over the top.

4.     Roasted Carrot and Red Quinoa Salad

Feeling fancy this Thanksgiving? Give your guest a taste of fine dining with this colorful salad. Making quinoa (pronounced keen-wah) can sound intimidating, but by following the intricate instructions on foodandwine.com, you can make a successful side for your thanksgiving feast.

5.     Vegan Mushroom Gravy

According to mayihavethisrecipe.com, this gravy can compete against meat based gravy out there. Your vegan guests can use this gravy on their stuffing and still feel included with the meat eaters. It only takes 40 minutes to make this delectable condiment, so you can leave it simmering while you tend to your other dishes.

6.      Butternut Squash Stuffed Shells

Try this take on a traditional classic to amaze your guests with your skills. This recipe combines two of my favorite foods: butternut squash and pasta. Topping it off with a creamy béchamel sauce and parmesan cheese can only mean good things. Check it out!
