This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at App State chapter.

It’s that cozy, snowy time of year. What’s better than to come inside from a cold day and eat some warm chili? Here is a cheap and easy recipe for a delicious meal that will fit into anyone’s budget and schedule!

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of ground beef (or turkey)
  • 3, 15 ounce cans of diced tomatoes with green chiles
  • 2, 15 ounce cans of beans (you can choose from: black, kidney, or chili beans)
  • 1 small white onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • optional toppings: cheese and sour cream

Directions:

  • In a large pot brown beef over medium-high heat
  • Drain grease
  • Add all other ingredients, stir
  • Bring to a boil
  • Lower the heat and let the chili simmer for 15-20 minutes
  • Serve with optional toppings

You can also make this in a crockpot by browning the beef, draining, and adding all ingredients to the crock pot. Put on low for 4-5 hours.

This takes almost no time and costs next to nothing! Enjoy and stay warm!
