Instagram has quickly become one of the most well known apps of all time. Personally, I love the app. It gives you a quick and easy way to share your pictures to the world, while storing them all in one single album. You can even put your personal touch on the pictures you take through various editing techniques. However, anyone with an Instagram knows about those girls: the girls that repeatedly post the same kind of pictures every week, maybe with a different filter to mix things up.  After having the app for almost three years, I have noticed six distinct characteristics that stand out in all the girls I follow on Instagram. Â

1. The “Sunset” Girl
The Sunset Girl: the girl that absolutely needs to take a picture of every sunset she witnesses. She might even put an inspirational quote underneath the picture to add some “depth.” Don’t get me wrong, those pictures are gorgeous and I give some serious credit to the photographer. That girl adds a little bit of sunshine to my newsfeed!
2. The “Selfie” Girl
The Selfie Girl: the girl who religiously takes a self-picture every week. Sometimes these pictures are equipped with a quote about life or love, although I couldn’t tell you what the relevance of the quote is in relation to the picture of her. We all know a girl on Instagram who takes these pictures. The “Selfie” Girl sure does have some confidence.

3. The “#mcm” Girl
The “mcm” Girl ( a.k.a The Man Crush Monday Girl): the girl who, every Monday, posts a picture of her “man crush”. Sometimes these pictures include silly celeb crushes, like a Google image of Jesse Williams (if you don’t know who that is then stop reading this and Google it, you will thank me later). Or other times it’s a picture of her boyfriend that we have already seen for a countless number of previous Mondays. The “mcm” girl loves to show her love for boys.
4. The “Candid” Girl
The “Candid” Girl: the girl who takes “in the moment” pictures of her and her friends hunched over laughing at something. These pictures are supposedly not posed for, even though some of them most definitely are. A lot of girls could be categorized as The “Candid” Girl at least once. And who cares? These pictures are pretty cool, in my opinion. They just show you and your friends having fun. However, sometimes too much of a good thing can be, well, annoying. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that someone was naturally laughing that hard on a Monday afternoon outside of the dining hall in the snow.

5. The “Artsy” Girl
The “Artsy Girl: the girl who somehow manages to make even the simplest picture look really cool. There are hundreds of normal people on Instagram that have thousands of followers just because their pictures are so captivating. I’m envious of The “Artsy” Girl. If you have the ability to make something look cool without looking like you’re trying too hard, then keep doing you’re thing.
6. The “Babies and Puppies” Girl
The “Babies and Puppies” Girl: the girl who always posts pictures of their adorable baby cousin and/or their brand new puppy. These pictures always put a smile on my face, no matter what kind of day I’m having.  I, for one, think that this kind of Instagram user brings the most joy to my newsfeed.
