Spring break is almost here and I know one thing is for sure…it’s time for Netflix and a whole lot of nothing. You may be fantasizing about a weeklong trip spent soaking up the sun at the beach (but let’s face it, it’s March…) and the other half of you knows good and well that binge-watching your favorite TV shows sounds like a perfect vacation far away from lectures, professors, and deadlines. Maybe you are starting a new series and don’t exactly know where to start. Well, here is a list of must-watch shows for every collegiate in need:

  • If you are into drama

Nothing can defeat Gossip Girl. Who doesn’t fall in love with the devious characters of the Upper East Side? Scandal after scandal of juicy gossip will have you wishing you were part of Manhattan’s elite, where you think money can buy you everything. By the end of all the seasons, you will be dying to know who GG is. The bottom line is: work like a Humphrey, think like a Bass, act like a Waldorf, and dress like a Van Der Woodsen. You learned from the best. XOXO.

  • If you like suspense

Get hooked on Dexter. Welcome to the inside of a serial killer’s head (don’t worry, I didn’t spoil anything). Bet you didn’t know this serial killer only kills criminals AND works as a blood splatter analyst at a police department (no wonder he’s good at his job). This might be the only time it’s possible for a murderer to be the good guy and the bad guy. Oh yes, he has his reasons. That’s for you to find out. Can he lead his double life and cover all the tracks without getting caught? Will he be able to keep his “dark passenger” a secret? Who knows? Get ready to be on your toes. There’s no doubt that this thriller will keep you guessing.

  • If you just cannot get enough of reality shows…

Everyone loves to believe that these aren’t staged, but even if they are, you know you love a crazy catfight, a heartbreaking meltdown, a blossoming romance, or a tragic breakup when it’s on television because it’s made to look so real. If you’re looking for what ‘a day in the life of your favorite celeb’ appears to be, which in most cases turns out to be a big s**t- show of entertainment, here are some suggestions (and trust me, there is no further explanation needed):

  • Keeping Up With The Kardashians

Remember, it is OKAY to be a hermit. And it is also okay to find amusement out of junk TV. Who cares if it seems shallow and pathetic for you to escape from your life and get lost in television shows? Pretending that someone else’s imaginary life (no matter how glamorous or shameless) is your own for a little while won’t do any harm. You deserve to actually take a break and rest. Be unproductive. Be lazy. For the sake of your sanity, indulge in your guilty pleasure. And by that, I mean Netflix.
