And what sounds more relaxing than stretching out on a beach towel and starting an awesome new book? Here’s a list of the eight best novels for the summer.

1.     The Husband’s Secret, Liane Moriarty

Get enthralled in this thriller about three women put in an impossible position.  When their husbands have dark pasts that are soon to come to light, Cecilia, Tess, and Rachel must deal with the consequences. This is a novel you will not be able to put down!

This book is the perfect easy read for lounging on the beach. The story of young Alma, the main character, and her quest to find her true self and save her family will keep you turning the pages until the very end.

This read is a little heavier than the normal summer book, but Horn illustrates such a deep and beautiful story following the theft of a famous million dollar painting. With tons of twists and turns, as well as visits to the past,  this unique novel is definitely one to keep in your collection.

From the official review, the author sums this novel up in six words: “Marriage can be a real killer”.  New York Times bestseller Gillian Flynn writes of a town turned upside down after golden boy Nick Dunne’s wife disappears from their home on the Mississippi River. Is he able to kill? Or is an unknown criminal lurking in the darkness? Also, watch for a movie version of this novel, coming later this year!

Her latest work, The Color War, is perfect for history buffs and collegiettes who love a good coming of age story.  Picoult writes of young boy who’s life is changed forever one summer when he learns the lines of black and white, rich and poor, and insider and outsider.

6.     The Opposite of Maybe, Maddie Dawson
